Free Music! (Yes, It’s a Google-Friendly Headline)
There are plenty of reasons to subscribe to Salon, or even just to read it from time to time with their clever “day-pass” system. Another one just came into being with the creation of “Audiofile”, which is essentially a music blog wearing a column’s clothing. Writer Thomas Bartlett has a good ear for interesting, original and catchy rock music (you know, the indie/alternative/whatever variety that the kids love these days), and links to oodles of free tunes for your downloading pleasure.
It’s gratifying to note, by the way, that Salon also recently announced its first quarterly profit, which essentially proves that independent, smart, well-written journalism can inform and educate while surviving in the feisty online marketplace.
