Not a Hard Bargain
I’m really enjoying Ron Sexsmith’s new album, Retriever, which I picked up for a song at the music store today.
Sexsmith has shown his talent as a songwriter before, but this is the first album I’ve heard in which his lyrical prowess is matched so expertly by beautiful and catchy melodies. Instantly listenable, yet still full of depth, it’ll be on repeat in my CD player for awhile, I think.

i agree — ron sexsmith is amazing. i don’t know why other artists like john mayer and the like get so much attention when mr. sexsmith is just 100 fold better. if you ever get a chance, get ahold of an album called “cry cry cry” which is dar williams, lucy kaplansky and richard shindell covering all of their favorite singer/songwriters. sexsmith’s “Speaking with the Angel” is on there, and it is heartbreakingly beautiful.
i found your journal by accident. i searched for a graphic of an open book and found one of your pictures. I am hoping you won’t mind, i borrowed it and am using it in a banner. credit will be given to you.
