Hey Friend, Say Friend
An unmistakably enjoyable bit of Montreal nostalgia courtesy of the National Archives digital collection: Expo 67 – Man and His World. The theme song playing over the intro is the best part—assuming you don’t mind “Hey friend, say friend” being stuck in your head the rest of the week. And if you care to listen to the original, visit the French version of the site.
Thirty-six years later, it’s striking how old fashioned it is to use “Man” as an abstract noun these days. I wonder if Terre des hommes sounds as similarly antiquated in French.
PS: I’d really like a digital copy of “A Place to Stand”, the theme song from the Ontario pavilion. Anyone know where I can nab a copy?
