The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution offers a detailed examination of how global warming may effect drastic winter cooling in the northeastern corner of North America and in Europe.
Of course Indian summer is in full tilt here in Montreal — it’s 30 °C right now — so it’s all a little hard to ponder right now. But cold freshwater melting from the Arctic into the North Atlantic could, scientists warn, play havoc with the winter climate here in the great economic heartland.
