Good golly, they've finally done it.
For years web site designers have been tearing their hair out (good thing mine is so thick) over the countless bugs in Netscape 4. Not to mention 4.11, 4.5, 4.55, 4.61, 4.7 and 4.75. Each subsequent version seemed to fix few bugs and introduce a whole bunch more. This thing was so bad, they didn't even bother making version 5.
No, they've gone straight to 6. This thing is brand new. Netscape threw out the old model and started from scratch, trying to build a browser 100% compliant with those pesky things we designers call "standards."
I still recommend Internet Explorer 5 — the Mac version especially is a fine product, albeit prone to the odd crash (then again, what Microsoft product isn't). But you might try Netscape 6 out. It's small and fast, and best of all, shows you web sites the way the designer intended.
