A crusty old prime minister

A crusty old prime minister gets his just desserts. If we didn't know better, we'd say the RCMP were taking bribes.

"Security was in line with the threat assessment," responded the RCMP, "and the requirement for the venue given the environment in which we had to operate," Mmm hmm. Translation: "Who woulda thought those sleepy Island farmers could've pulled a stunt like this? Kudos!"

Of course we're pleased to see the "rest of Canada" pick up what has been, until now, largely a Quebec practice (adopted from France). It's a shame, however, that the English language does quite so mellifluously describe the act. In French, Monsieur Chrétien was entarté; the perpetrator, une entartiste. Didn't the Reagan adminstration fund the entartistas in Nicaragua?
