"Some call it a neo-pagan

"Some call it a neo-pagan festival. Others think of it as this generation's Woodstock. In truth, it is neither."

Burning Man is, as this feature at Adobe.com suggests, a bit difficult to explain. A week in the desert, blazing as equally by day from the overhead sun as from the playful and plentiful fires that light the nocturnal revelry.

Saturday Night magazine introduced me to Burning Man in an article published last year (sadly not available online). This year the festivities include an online component, definitely worth checking out when things get under way August 31. Until then, there are some photos from last year to admire, and which perhaps visually explain better than any words what goes on in Black Rock City.

Once you've leafed through those, move on to the official Burning Man Project Site, and be surprisingly upset that it's too late to go this year.
