Ominous signs department, or, There goes the neighbourhood:
At the corner of Laurier and Parc (or as we Anglos say, "Laurier and Park"), in Montreal, there is a retail space under construction. Delicately affixed to the windows are small but nevertheless conspicuous images of a mermaid in a green circle.
Yes, at long last, Starbucks is arriving in Montreal. Since the Evil Empire has taken over just about every other city, it was only a matter of time. Though it certainly took them long enough. No doubt being forced to operate in French caught them by surprise. Although come to think of it, the whole place operates in Italian anyway...
