The dreaded Yanks defeated my hapless Mariners last night, thus ensuring both their third consecutive American League pennant, and more importantly, much eye-rolling and groaning across the land. Yes, many non-New York sports journalists' worst fears have come true: the apocalyptic Subway Series is upon us. Seldom has the term "World" Series seemed like such a misnomer.
